1930s Algeria Cover to President FDR Roosevelt Harmer Provenance # 1101

Original 1930s postal cover addressed to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House, Washington, D.C., mailed from Bougie, Algeria (present-day Béjaïa, Algeria). The cover bears a 1.50 Franc Algerian postage stamp with period postal cancellations. The reverse is clearly hand-stamped: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This marking identifies the cover as having originated from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s renowned personal philatelic collection and having passed through the H. R. Harmer dispersal of the collection.
