1922 Southern Pacific Blue Canyon CA 4-Page Snow Shed Railroad Letter # 1138

Original four-page handwritten letter dated September 11, 1922, written in pencil on matching Southern Pacific Lines Form 2551-C stationery from Blue Canon, California, now Blue Canyon. Signed with the initials M.L.M. and addressed to family members. The writer describes arriving in California, quickly obtaining employment, life around the Southern Pacific station, Sierra Nevada railroad snow sheds, bears, mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, badgers, deer and fishing. Also includes detailed descriptions of a Sacramento Valley ranch with approximately 450 turkeys, almond, prune and alfalfa acreage, dairy cows, milk shipped to San Francisco and a large irrigation pumping plant. Four original matching sheets with folds, age toning, light staining and minor edge wear. Pencil writing remains substantially readable. An unusually detailed piece of Southern Pacific Railroad, Blue Canyon and early California agricultural history.
