1910 Horry County SC Horse Bill of Sale “Gypsie Mare” Signed Document # 1166

Original handwritten 1910 bill of sale for a horse, executed in Horry County, South Carolina. The document records J. H. Mishoe transferring a gray mare to E. C. Ellerbe for the stated consideration of $30. The animal is specifically described as: “One gray mare about 10 yrs old known as the Gypsie Mare” The agreement states that the mare was in Mishoe’s possession and was to be delivered to Ellerbe upon demand. It is dated December 29, 1910, signed by J. H. Mishoe, and witnessed by W. M. F. Johnson. The reverse is handwritten: “J. H. Mishoe to E. C. Ellerbe — Bill of Sale” It also includes a later “Paid July 10/11” notation signed by E. C. Ellerbe, documenting completion of the transaction in 1911. Condition is consistent with an original working legal document more than 100 years old. It shows heavy folding, toning, staining, surface soiling, creasing, edge wear, small tears and areas of discoloration. The handwriting remains largely legible.
