1966 Southern Railway Co 100-Share Stock Certificate Canceled ABNC # B1180

Original Southern Railway Company 100-share common stock certificate, issued to Johnson and Company and dated February 25, 1966. Certificate number C427709. This ornate railroad security was printed by the American Bank Note Company and features an engraved Southern Railway vignette depicting railroad, industrial, agricultural, and communications scenes beneath the slogan “The Southern Serves the South.” The certificate was countersigned by Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York as transfer agent and registered by The Chase Manhattan Bank. It includes corporate officer signatures and blue authorized-officer signatures. The document was later surrendered and canceled, as shown by the coded punch holes and blue cancellation marks. It has no known current financial or redeemable stock value and is offered as a historical collectible. The reverse contains the original Southern Railway stock-transfer form. Condition: Authentic vintage canceled certificate with multiple cancellation punches, center folds, age toning, scattered colored spotting, light stains, handling wear, and minor edge and corner wear.
