1902 Boer War POW Cover Potchefstroom to Deadwood Camp St Helena # 1184

Original Second Boer War postal cover mailed from Potchefstroom, Transvaal, on 13 June 1902, shortly after the end of the Anglo-Boer War. Addressed to Mr. J. P. O’Hara, Prisoner of War, Deadwood Camp, St. Helena, making this an excellent piece of Boer War and prisoner-of-war postal history. The cover features a clear Potchefstroom circular datestamp dated 13 JUN 1902, a bold octagonal “10 CENTIMES” postage-due marking, a large manuscript and handstamped “T” indicating insufficient postage, and “Passed by Censor – Potchefstroom” markings on the reverse. Additional transit and receiving markings are present. The original postage stamp has been removed, leaving evidence where it was once affixed. Condition is consistent with age, including toning, light soiling, edge wear, small tears, creases, and handling wear. The cover remains intact and displays well with strong postal markings. A desirable and historically significant Boer War postal-history cover documenting mail sent to a Prisoner of War at Deadwood Camp, St. Helena, one of the principal overseas internment camps for Boer prisoners.
