1938 Komárno Czechoslovakia to New York 6¢ US Postage Due Card # 1207

Original 1938 postcard mailed from Komárno, Czechoslovakia, to New York City, with a handwritten message in Hungarian covering both sides. The card is franked with three Czechoslovak stamps totaling 1.20 koruna and was apparently underpaid for international mailing. A blue “6c” postage-due notation was added, along with United States 1¢ and 5¢ Postage Due stamps to collect the six-cent deficiency upon arrival in New York. Postmarked at Komárno in August 1938, shortly before the region was transferred from Czechoslovakia to Hungary later that year. This gives the card added historical interest as a pre–World War II mixed-country postal-history item. Condition: Antique used condition with age toning, handling wear, edge and corner wear, postal markings, and a heavily inked or obscured area on the message side. All visible stamps remain attached.
