1938 Komárno Czechoslovakia to New York 2¢ US Postage Due Postal Card # 1208

Original Czechoslovak postal stationery postcard mailed from Komárno to New York City, apparently dating from 1938, with a full handwritten message in Hungarian. The card bears a green 50-haler printed indicium together with additional Czechoslovak 20h, 30h and 50h stamps. It was marked with a large “T” postage-due indicator and a blue handwritten “10c” notation. A United States 2¢ Postage Due stamp was later applied and canceled in New York. An attractive mixed-country postal-history piece featuring Czechoslovak franking, Hungarian-language correspondence, Komárno cancellations and United States postage-due usage. The date is especially interesting because Komárno was transferred from Czechoslovakia to Hungary later in 1938. Condition: Antique used condition with overall toning, staining and discoloration around several stamps, heavy postal cancellations, surface marks, edge and corner wear, and a small notch or tear along the top edge.
