1932 Haiti Airmail Cover Preetzmann-Aggerholm to Tide Water Oil NY # 1215

Offered is an original 1932 commercial airmail cover from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the Tide Water Oil Company in New York City. The envelope is franked with a 50-centimes Republic of Haiti aviation stamp depicting an airplane over Port-au-Prince and is tied by a Port-au-Prince postmark dated June 28, 1932. The front also bears a purple “PAR AVION / AIR MAIL” airplane handstamp and a red-and-blue airmail border. The reverse is marked: L. Preetzmann-Aggerholm & Co. Port-au-Prince, Haiti The cover was addressed to: Tide Water Oil Company 17 Battery Place New York, N.Y. An attractive early Haitian commercial aviation cover with interest for collectors of Haiti postal history, airmail, petroleum-company memorabilia and international business correspondence. Condition: Age toning, light stains, creases, edge and corner wear, handling marks and an opening tear along one side. The stamp remains attached and postally used.
