1939 Panama Canal Zone 25th Anniversary Airmail Cover Van Valkenburgh # 1217

Original 1939 Panama Canal Zone 25th Anniversary airmail cover commemorating the opening of the Panama Canal, 1914–1939. The envelope features an attractive silver-embossed cachet with the Canal Zone seal, Miraflores Locks image, airplane design, and the slogan “Cross Roads of the World.” Franked with a 15-cent Canal Zone airmail stamp and tied by a Pedro Miguel, Canal Zone, May 1939 postmark. Addressed to Mrs. K. Van Valkenburgh of Hackensack, New Jersey. The reverse bears a printed return address for L. D. Van Valkenburgh, Pedro Miguel, C.Z., along with two period handwritten signatures or notations. Condition shows normal age-related toning, light soiling, handling wear, and minor corner and edge wear. The envelope remains intact and displays well.
