1947-48 Richmond Public Library Card Alwilda Valentine Metal Plate # 1220

Original 1947–1948 Richmond Public Library borrower card issued to Miss Alwilda Valentine of 2903 Monument Avenue, Apartment 7, Richmond, Virginia. The card retains its original borrower number 7-2904, dated library stamps for 1947 and 1948, circular punch hole, and attached metal circulation plate used with early mechanical library checkout systems. The front also includes the library’s original borrowing rules, hours, overdue fine information, and replacement-card charge. This is an uncommon piece of Richmond, Virginia local-history and library ephemera. Its named owner, Monument Avenue address, clear dates, and surviving metal plate make it more desirable than an ordinary unsigned library card. No confirmed connection to a famous person or major historical event is claimed. Condition is very good for its age, with light toning, minor surface marks, slight corner and edge wear, and faint remnants of an old stamped or erased marking near the top.
