1937 Australia–New Zealand Cover Delayed Private Posting Box Mark # 1225

Original 1937 Australian postal-history cover mailed to Dunedin, New Zealand and franked with a red 2d King George VI postage stamp, cancelled 27 July 1937. The front bears the unusual large instructional handstamp “DELAYED IN PRIVATE POSTING BOX” with “No Postal Delay” printed below, making this an interesting piece for collectors of Australian postal markings, private posting boxes, New Zealand destinations and prewar Commonwealth mail. Condition is fair for its age, with overall toning, scattered spotting, edge and corner wear, creasing, surface soiling and a roughly opened upper edge.
