1941 WWII Vichy France to Swiss Internee Registered Censored Cover # 1234

Original July 1941 World War II registered cover mailed from the 803rd foreign-workers group at Camp des Garrigues near Nîmes, Vichy France, to an internee at Huttwil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Franked with the 2.50-franc Carcassonne issue and bearing Nîmes registration label No. 378. The cover was routed through the Swiss military Field Post Directorate, marked “Zuzustellen Feldpostdirektion,” transferred through Huttwil civil post and opened and resealed with multilingual Swiss military-censorship tape. Reverse bears a clear Huttwil (Bern) 14.VII.41 arrival/control marking and the sender’s Camp des Garrigues address. An unusual and historically significant piece of Vichy France, Swiss internment and WWII censorship postal history. Age toning, creases, edge wear and normal postal handling as shown.
