Item description
Original late-19th-century French Service Télégraphique telegram form printed on blue paper with decorative perforated edges. The form features an integral 50-centime “Télégraphe” indicium, which is printed as part of the stationery rather than being a separately applied stamp. It also retains a circular postal cancellation and handwritten Paris address information.
The reverse contains an extensive handwritten message in French. The correspondence appears to discuss a registered letter, necessary instructions, and the handling or possible withdrawal of a legal or business matter, making this more interesting than a routine social telegram.
Condition is consistent with age and use, with scattered ink stains, surface marks, light creasing, edge wear, and small areas of paper loss. The printed design, cancellation, address, and most of the handwritten message remain visible. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition and handwriting.
An appealing original piece of French postal history for collectors of antique telegrams, pneumatic-post stationery, telegraph memorabilia, legal correspondence, and 19th-century ephemera.
