Authentic 1894 French Paris pneumatic-post telegram, commonly called a “Petit Bleu.” Printed on blue-green postal stationery with the 50-centime République Française Télégraphe design by Chaplain and multiple Paris postal markings appearing to date from June 28, 1894. Addressed to Albert Michel, care of Paul Michel, former notary, at 39 or 59 Rue Rochechouart, Paris. The complete handwritten French message informs Albert that his Uncle Francis will pronounce his religious vows the following morning, Friday, June 29, at 7:30 a.m., at 3 Rue de Dantzig, Paris. The sender asks Albert to notify his father and explains that Uncle Francis would be very happy to have him attend the important ceremony. A fascinating piece of late-19th-century French postal, family and religious history. The detailed personal message and reference to a religious-vows ceremony make this example more historically interesting than a routine pneumatic telegram, although the postal form itself is not considered a major rarity.
