1894 Paris France Pneumatic Post “Petit Bleu” Telegram 50c Chaplain # 1250

Original 1894 Paris pneumatic-post telegram, commonly known as a French “Petit Bleu” because of its blue paper. The front features a printed 50-centime République Française “TÉLÉGRAPHE” Chaplain design, Paris postal cancellations, and the original handwritten recipient information. The telegram opens to reveal a handwritten message in French, signed “Lucien.” The message appears to say that the sender was passing through Paris and planned to visit around 5 o’clock. The date at the upper left appears to be August 27, 1894. A desirable piece of late-19th-century French postal, telegraph, and Paris history. Condition: Original used condition with expected folds, light staining and toning, small edge tears, creases, and general age wear. Handwriting and printed design remain clearly visible.
