Original 1894 Paris pneumatic-post telegram letter card, commonly known as a French “Petit Bleu.” Printed on blue postal stationery with a 50-centime République Française “TÉLÉGRAPHE” Chaplain imprint, Paris cancellations, forwarding marks, and handwritten postal notations. Addressed to Monsieur Georges Bataille, apparently at 68 Avenue Philippe-Auguste, Paris. The lengthy handwritten French message is an unusually emotional personal appeal. The writer asks Georges for an important service, states that her affairs have been arranged, mentions entrusting her daughter to others, and urges him to visit regarding her final wishes.
