1886 Paris Bourse Petit Bleu Telegram 50c Chaplain Stock Trades # 1254

Original 1886 Paris pneumatic-post telegram letter card, commonly known as a French “Petit Bleu.” Printed on blue postal stationery with a black 50-centime République Française “TÉLÉGRAPHE” Chaplain imprint and a clear Paris cancellation dated 28 August 1886. This is an especially interesting Paris Bourse financial telegram. The handwritten message records several securities transactions, including purchases and a sale involving quantities of 100, 300, and 1,500, with prices around 82–83 francs. The notation appears to concern the French 3% government rente, an important security traded on the Paris Stock Exchange. The financial content, early date, original Bourse-related handwriting, office markings, and surviving signature make this more desirable than an ordinary personal pneumatic telegram. It is an appealing piece of 19th-century French postal, telegraph, stock-market, and economic history. Condition: Original used condition with folds, toning, ink markings, postal cancellations, handling wear, minor edge wear, small punctures, and age-related marks.
