Original 1933 international postal cover mailed from France and addressed directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House in Washington, D.C. The front is handwritten: “President F. D. Roosevelt White House Washington D.C. U.S.A.” Mailed from Nancy, France in May 1933, during the opening months of Roosevelt’s first presidential term. The envelope retains its original blue 1.50-franc French postage stamp with period Nancy postal cancellation. Most importantly, the reverse bears the red provenance marking: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H.R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This marking identifies the cover as having come from the Franklin D. Roosevelt philatelic collection and provides excellent provenance for presidential and postal-history collectors.
