1933 France Airmail Cover to President FDR Roosevelt Harmer Provenance # 1294

Original 1933 French airmail cover addressed to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at Washington, D.C. The envelope is addressed in elegant period handwriting to “Monsieur le Président Franklin Roosevelt, Washington, États-Unis” and bears a French 1.50-franc Poste Aérienne airmail stamp with a Paris cancellation dated April 13, 1933. Especially desirable is the red provenance marking on the reverse reading: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This marking documents the cover as originating from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous philatelic collection.
