Franklin D Roosevelt FDR Collection French Cover H.R. Harmer Authenticated #1296

Original vintage French postal cover addressed to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Washington, D.C. The envelope is franked with three French 50-centime stamps and bears multiple Calvados postal cancellations. The reverse is stamped in red: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This provenance marking is the most important feature of the piece and indicates that the cover was sold as material from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous personal stamp collection. The front is handwritten to: Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt President of the United States Washington, D.C. A very desirable piece combining presidential history, Franklin D. Roosevelt memorabilia, French postal history, and philately. Condition is consistent with age, including toning, handling wear, edge wear, and some damage/opening at the upper-right corner.
