1933 FDR Franklin D Roosevelt French Cover Wax Seal H.R. Harmer Provenance #1297

Original 1933 French postal cover addressed to Franklin D. Roosevelt shortly after he became President of the United States. The envelope is handwritten in French to “Monsieur Roosevelt, Président des États-Unis d’Amérique” and addressed to the White House in Washington, D.C. It is franked with six French 50-centime stamps and bears multiple Barfleur, Manche, France postal cancellations dated April 18, 1933. The reverse retains a large original red wax seal, giving the cover excellent visual appeal and adding to its period character. Most importantly, the back bears the provenance stamp: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This identifies the cover as material from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s personal philatelic collection, later authenticated and dispersed through H.R. Harmer.
