1933 FDR Roosevelt White House France Cover H.R. Harmer Provenance # 1300

Authentic 1933 postal cover mailed from Baden, Morbihan, France and addressed directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House in Washington, D.C. The front is handwritten: “His Excellency The President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt The White House Washington, D.C.” It bears three red 50-centime République Française stamps, totaling 1.50 francs, with circular Baden, Morbihan postal cancellations. The postmark appears dated September 10, 1933, during the first year of Roosevelt’s presidency. The reverse includes a handwritten sender notation from Baden, Morbihan, France and, most importantly, the red provenance stamp: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION AUTHENTICATED BY H.R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This provenance identifies the cover as having come from Roosevelt’s personal philatelic collection, later dispersed through H.R. Harmer. Condition: Original vintage condition with age toning, edge and corner wear, opening wear along one side, and expected postal handling. Stamps remain attached and cancellations are visible.
