1933 FDR Roosevelt Dictator of Peace Armistice Day Cover H.R. Harmer # 1301

Authentic 1933 French postal cover addressed directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House, with unusually strong political and historical interest. The typed address reads: “A Monsieur le PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT Dictateur de la Paix à la ‘MAISON BLANCHE’ WASHINGTON Etats-Unis” “Dictateur de la Paix” translates approximately as “Dictator of Peace,” making this a particularly unusual and eye-catching Roosevelt cover. The envelope bears three red 50-centime République Française stamps for a total of 1.50 francs and a clear Paris – Rue des Halles cancellation dated November 11, 1933 — Armistice Day. It also carries a boxed “DIPLOMATE” marking. The reverse is stamped: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION AUTHENTICATED BY H.R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This provenance identifies the cover as having come from Roosevelt’s personal philatelic collection, later dispersed through H.R. Harmer.
