1936 FDR Franklin D Roosevelt France Cover H.R. Harmer Collection # 1309

Original 1936 French postal cover addressed directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House, Washington, D.C. The cover features three French 50-centime postage stamps with original postal cancellations and a New York April 6, 1936 receiving postmark on the reverse. Most importantly, the reverse bears the red provenance marking: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION – AUTHENTICATED BY H.R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This marking identifies the cover as having come from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous stamp collection, which was dispersed by H.R. Harmer following Roosevelt’s death. A desirable piece combining Presidential memorabilia, FDR history, French postal history and philately. The cover remains in original vintage condition with age-related toning, edge wear, creasing and a small hole/tear near the upper edge.
