FDR Roosevelt Mexico Leon GTO Cover H.R. Harmer Authenticated Collection # 1313

Vintage Mexico postal cover addressed directly to Franklin D. Roosevelt as President of the United States, with strong presidential and philatelic provenance. The front is typed: “Hon. Franklin Roosevelt, President U.S.A., Washington, D.C.” The return address identifies the sender as: Concepción Castellanos Cuartel de “Los Angeles” León, Gto., Mexico The cover bears a 10-centavo Mexican Cuauhtémoc Monument stamp with a León, Guanajuato cancellation. The exact year of the postmark is partly obscured, so it is not stated with certainty. Most importantly, the reverse bears the red provenance handstamp: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This marking identifies the cover as having come from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s personal stamp collection, later dispersed by H.R. Harmer.
