FDR Roosevelt Guadalajara Mexico Cover H.R. Harmer Collection # 1318

Offered here is an original vintage Mexican postal cover addressed directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Washington, D.C. The envelope was mailed from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and bears a Mexican 10-centavo postage stamp with a bold Guadalajara, Jal. “10 MAY” cancellation. The typed address reads in Spanish: “C. Presidente de los Estados Americanos Señor Franklin Rossevelt Washington, E.U.A.” The upper portion includes a typed return address from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The most important feature appears on the reverse in red: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This provenance marking identifies the envelope as having come from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous personal philatelic collection, making it considerably more desirable than an ordinary Mexican postal cover. An appealing crossover collectible combining Franklin D. Roosevelt presidential history, Mexican postal history, international mail, and documented FDR collection provenance. Condition: Original vintage condition with age toning, light staining/soiling, creasing, edge wear and normal postal handling. Stamp, Guadalajara cancellation, typed address and H.R.
