1933 FDR Roosevelt Mexico Haga Patria Cover H.R. Harmer Collection # 1320

Offered here is an original 1933 Mexican postal cover addressed directly to Franklin D. Roosevelt in Washington, D.C., with documented provenance from Roosevelt’s personal stamp collection. The typed address reads: “Sr. Dn. Franklin D. Roosevelt Washington E.U.A.” The envelope was mailed in Mexico in May 1933, during Roosevelt’s first year as President of the United States. The postal cancellation clearly shows “MAY 33.” The cover features an attractive mixed Mexican franking, including a 10-centavo monument issue and a purple “Haga Patria / Proteja a la Infancia” postal-tax stamp, both tied by the original cancellation. Most importantly, the reverse bears the red provenance marking: “FROM THE FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT COLLECTION AUTHENTICATED BY H. R. HARMER INC., N.Y.” This identifies the envelope as having come from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s personal philatelic collection, making it substantially more desirable than an ordinary Mexican postal cover. An excellent crossover collectible combining FDR presidential history, 1933 international mail, Mexican postal history, unusual Haga Patria franking, and H.R. Harmer Roosevelt collection provenance.
