Antique Mark Twain – Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, published by Harper & Brothers. This attractive early 20th-century edition is bound in red cloth with gilt lettering and a decorative gold Mark Twain monogram on the front cover. An especially nice feature of this copy is that Volumes I and II are bound together in one complete book, with separate title pages for Vol. I and Vol. II. The story continues through Joan of Arc’s trial, martyrdom, conclusion, and final “THE END” page. Illustrated from drawings by F. V. Du Mond, along with reproductions of old paintings and statues. The copyright page states 1896 and 1899 and bears the Harper printing code M-S, associated with a later early-20th-century printing. Condition: Good antique condition with expected age and use. Red cloth covers show rubbing, fading, edge wear, and some fraying/chipping at the spine ends and corners. Gilt decoration remains attractive. Interior pages show normal age toning with scattered spotting/foxing, particularly around the title pages. Binding remains intact based on inspection.
