1880s Eaton Rapids Michigan 1c Franklin Local Drop Letter Cover #1396

Original late-19th-century Eaton Rapids, Michigan postal-history cover addressed to Mrs. Watson Stirling, City and bearing a clear Eaton Rapids, Mich. May 7 circular postmark. The cover is franked with a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin Bank Note issue, consistent with local/drop-letter postage of the period. The stamp appears to be from the classic 1880s U.S. Bank Note series. A nice piece of early Michigan local postal history, with strong appeal to collectors of Eaton Rapids, classic U.S. covers, 1¢ Franklin issues, and 19th-century mail.
