1870s Harrisville PA 3¢ Washington Scott 158 Fancy Embossed Cover #1440

Original 19th-century Harrisville, Pennsylvania postal-history cover featuring a green 3¢ George Washington Large Bank Note stamp, appearing to be Scott #158. The cover bears a clear circular HARRISVILLE, PA. postmark dated SEP 19, with the stamp canceled by a bold concentric-ring/bullseye-style killer. A particularly attractive feature is the ornate embossed and decorative address design on the front, with multiple framed panels incorporated into the handwritten address. This gives the cover considerably more visual interest than a typical plain 1870s envelope. The exact year is not clearly visible in the postmark, so this is conservatively described as a circa-1870s usage rather than assigning a specific year.
