Original early-20th-century United States postal stationery wrapper featuring a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin green embossed indicium on manila paper, identified as Scott W425, Die 1. This is a complete used postal wrapper rather than a cut square or loose stamp. It is addressed in period handwriting to Lewis Ames of Stockton, New York, and retains a dark postal cancellation across the Franklin indicium. The wrapper measures approximately 5 3/4” x 3” as folded. Lewis Ames is a documented name in historic Stockton, Chautauqua County, New York records, although the exact identity of the recipient on this wrapper has not been conclusively established. Condition is consistent with age and postal use, with overall toning, minor spotting, edge wear, folds, and handling marks.
