Jacob Collamer Autograph Cut Signature U.S. Senator Postmaster General #1459

Original vintage cut signature attributed to Jacob Collamer (1791–1865), prominent Vermont statesman, U.S. Senator, Congressman, judge, and Postmaster General under President Zachary Taylor. The piece features a bold handwritten “J. Collamer” signature with an attractive period flourish. The reverse has an older collector’s pencil identification reading approximately: “Jacob Collamer 1791–1865 / PMG (Taylor, Fillmore) / U.S.S.” Collamer served in the U.S. House of Representatives, was appointed Postmaster General in 1849, and later represented Vermont in the U.S. Senate during the important Civil War era.
