Timothy Pickering Autograph Signed Clipped Signature Revolutionary War Era #1468

Original Timothy Pickering (1745–1829) handwritten autograph fragment, featuring Pickering’s period handwriting/signature on a small clipped piece from what was once a larger document. Pickering was one of the important political and military figures of early American history. He served during the American Revolutionary War, including as Quartermaster General of the Continental Army, and later held several major positions in the early United States government. He served as Postmaster General, Secretary of War, and Secretary of State under Presidents George Washington and John Adams, and later represented Massachusetts in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The original handwritten clipping measures approximately 1/2” x 2 1/4” and is adhered to an older green cardboard backing, apparently from a previous collector’s mounting. It has not been removed from the backing and will be sold exactly as found. The handwriting remains dark and clearly visible. The fragment shows expected age toning and wear consistent with an early historical paper item. Please examine the close-up photographs carefully for the exact handwriting, mounting and condition.
