1878 A H Hart & Co Elm Flax Mills Illustrated Advertising Cover New York #1474

Original 1878 illustrated advertising envelope from A. H. Hart & Co., Elm Flax Mills, with an office listed at 90 White Street, New York. Features a detailed factory illustration with smokestacks and horse-drawn wagons, along with advertising for “Twines, Yarns, Shoe Threads, &c.” A striking piece of nineteenth-century textile and industrial advertising. Postmarked New York, October 1, 1878, and addressed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bears two green 3-cent George Washington stamps with black cancellations and a receiving postmark on the reverse. Condition: Age toning, soiling, creases, worn corners, edge tears, and small areas of paper loss. The back flap has substantial tearing. Handwriting overlaps part of the factory illustration.
