1937 Yakima WA Mount Rainier National Park Illustrated Advertising Cover #1476

Original 1937 illustrated advertising envelope promoting Yakima, Washington, as the “Eastern Gateway to Rainier National Park.” Features an attractive mountain, evergreen forest, and river scene printed in black and pale green. Postmarked Yakima, Washington, April 13, 1937, with a purple 3-cent George Washington stamp and machine cancellation. Addressed to the Board of Christian Education in Elgin, Illinois. The reverse features a printed Yakima return-address area completed by hand, along with pencil notations. A distinctive piece of vintage Pacific Northwest tourism advertising for collectors of Mount Rainier memorabilia, national park ephemera, and Washington postal history. Condition: Age toning, scattered spotting and soiling, creases, and corner wear. The top edge has a rough opening with tears and small areas of paper loss, including near the stamp.
