1936 CE2 16c Airmail Special Delivery First Day Cover Washington DC #1478

1936 U.S. Airmail Special Delivery First Day Cover featuring the 16¢ red-and-blue Great Seal stamp, Scott CE2, postmarked Washington, D.C., February 10, 1936, at 8 AM. Addressed to E. L. Alger in Lansing, Michigan. The front features a colorful red-and-blue “AIR MAIL” airplane-and-arrow label with printed mailing-rate information. The reverse documents same-day postal handling with an Air Mail Field, Detroit, Michigan, postmark dated February 10 at 2 PM and a Lansing receiving mark at 4:30 PM. An “RMS” marking appears beside the Detroit postmark. An attractive example of 1930s airmail and special-delivery postal history, with both departure and arrival markings. Condition: Age-related toning, light soiling, creasing, edge and corner wear, and pencil notations on the front. Noticeable brown staining follows the envelope seams on the reverse.
