1941 USS Kearny Torpedoed WWII Naval Cachet Cover Portsmouth NH Postmark #1483

1941 USS Kearny commemorative naval cover featuring an illustrated “U.S.S. Kearny Torpedoed” cachet depicting the destroyer DD-432. The design commemorates the October 17, 1941 attack off Iceland and includes printed casualty information. Postmarked Portsmouth, New Hampshire, November 17, 1941, one month after the date shown in the cachet. Addressed by hand, with a green 1-cent National Defense stamp and two ½-cent Nathan Hale stamps. Condition: Age toning, scattered spotting, and light edge and corner wear. Reverse shows prominent brown adhesive staining and several areas of surface paper loss, consistent with previous mounting.
